Welcome to the AKFF!

Welcome to the Adelaide Kids Film Festival, or AKFF for short. After a successful pilot festival in 2011, 2012 saw the official launch of the inaugural AKFF which is an annual film festival with a core focus of showcasing films for kids, by kids. In addition, the festival will showcase select iconic films made with a youth audience in mind. The 2013 festival was even bigger and better and held over four days at the Palace Nova Cinemas, Adelaide College of Arts, Adelaide Studios and Hindmarsh Square. We also started the Regional Tour in 2013 where workshops and screenings took place in Renmark, Mount Gambier, Whyalla and Port Lincoln.

Beyond only showcasing films, the festival has established itself as an internationally recognised youth cinema event, mixing screenings with Q&A’s, workshops and seminars, hosted and facilitated by respected industry professionals.

2014 was huge yet again!  The AKFF was invited to Spain in March and Italy again in July.  The main festival was held over 8 days in November (11-19). Locations were – The Adelaide Studios (Glenside), Mercury Cinema (CBD), Adelaide College of the Arts (CBD), Wallis Cinema (Mount Barker), Youthorioa Cinema (Port Lincoln).

2015 will be another wonderful year for the AKFF as we see our festival brought forward to October. 23-31st

The mission of the Adelaide Kids Film Festival is to encourage and foster an appreciation for digital storytelling in young people, while providing a prestigious yet accessible platform for young filmmakers to showcase their creative work.
